How to Evolve in Evolve & Survive
Grassland, desert, and Hour 24 morphs without guessing the next animal.
Evolution is the whole pitch. Structa’s Roblox page says you start weak, morph into mighty beasts, and collect every form in the Evolvedex. Official thumbnails make the ladder visible: a smiling pink worm, a brown ant, a yellow-backed stag beetle, then a scorpion. Desert art swaps the opener to a shrew and a purple rat. This guide turns those pictures into a path you can follow after getting started.
You evolve by eating, surviving, and winning fights in your range. Codes that grant kills (now expired) were never required. Live codes give Gold and Revives so a knockout does not wipe the morph you just earned.
The grassland collection line
The cleanest documented line on the forest thumbnails is:
- Pink worm — starter. Eat Food (0/5) is your only job.
- Brown ant — first real combat form. Small, fast, still food for everything with claws.
- Stag beetle — black body, yellow wing case, heavy mandibles. This is the first form worth a Revive.
- Scorpion / mystery silhouette — later art hides the final grassland beast behind a glowing outline and a question mark.
Play this line if you spawn on green studs with round trees. Stay out of cactus biomes until the beetle.
The desert collection line
Desert panels show a different opener:
- Shrew or mouse — tiny, purple feet in some renders.
- Stocky purple rat — sits up, still prey.
- Desert scorpion — tan claws, dark back, oasis water in the background.
- Glowing secret scorpion — silhouette with sparkles. Treat it as a collection target, not a starter goal.
If your server dumps you onto sand and cacti, commit to this line instead of walking back to grass as a shrew. The early-game tier list prefers the grassland ant for safety, but the desert line is how you actually finish Index entries that never appear on the lawn.
Side forms you will meet first as enemies
Not every animal is on those two ladders:
- Green mantis with red inner claws — the thumbnail bully standing over the worm.
- Turtle on the beach — slow, easy to underestimate, not a desert duelist.
- Centipedes — brown, red, black-and-red with glowing eyes. Hour 24 art uses them as the “you waited too long” threat.
You can collect these. You should not open a worm session by hunting them. The animal forms roster lists them as identities. The best forms ranks which ones deserve a chase.
What “Hour 1” and “Hour 24” are telling you
Promotional splits show Hour 1 as a cute starter and Hour 24 as a nightmare centipede or stag beetle in a new biome. That is pacing, not a literal 24-hour timer you must sit through. The message is: if you only nibble food and never take fights, the server around you still grows. Someone else will be the Hour 24 body.
Practical translation:
- Hour 1 = eat, hide, morph once.
- Mid session = take ant and beetle fights, spend Gold on spins if you want variance.
- Late session = scorpion and centipede weight class. This is where Revives pay rent.
The XP farm tool page is about finding food and fair fights, not about AFK timers.
How knockouts interact with morphs
Guides and code roundups agree that losing a battle can send you toward a weaker form. That is why Revives exist and why Update3’s single Revive is still worth claiming. If you drop from beetle to ant, you did not lose the Index entry — you lost the body you were piloting.
Do not ego-challenge a glowing centipede to “test” this. Test it on something your size, then read combat.
Biome checklist before you morph
- Green lawn / forest — worm and ant food, mantis threat.
- Beach — turtle sightings, fewer cactus ambushes.
- Desert / canyon — rat and scorpion line, long sightlines, nowhere to hide as a worm.
- Oasis with palms — scorpion showcase biome in official art.
Move with your form. A turtle has no business sprinting a canyon. A scorpion has no business camping the worm spawn unless you enjoy farming people who have not read this page.
After you evolve
Open Index. Tick the new portrait. If the next slot is a silhouette, you are on a secret or later branch — see the Evolvedex guide. If Gold is burning a hole, the shop guide is safer than panic skins. If you want rankings instead of stories, jump to the tier list hub.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers players search before they jump back into a server.
How do you evolve in Evolve & Survive?
Eat food, survive, and win fights in your size class. Morphs follow grassland and desert lines toward scorpion-tier forms.
What is the first evolution?
Most players go pink worm into brown ant. Desert spawns may start you toward shrew and rat instead.
Is Hour 24 a real timer?
It is promotional pacing. The server still grows around you if you only hide. Play the mid-game instead of waiting.
Do I lose forms when I die?
Knockouts can knock you down a body. Index collection stays. Bank Revives from codes before late-game fights.
