A field guide to every creature in the official stills.
This roster is a field guide. Each entry lists biome, line, and whether the body is prey, mid, or apex. Combat advice stays short; long fights belong on how to play. Kit notes belong on abilities.
Pink worm
Lawn starter. Official key art marks it YOU under a mantis. Eat Food is the entire kit. Do not skin it. Do not Revive it. Morph off it using how to evolve.
Brown ant
Grassland first combat form. Small, fast, still food for claws. Best early-game body on the early-game list. Farm worms, hide from mantises, push toward stag beetle.
Shrew / mouse
Desert opener. Purple feet in some thumbnails. Lost on the lawn. Exists so the desert Index line has a first step. Play scared.
Turtle
Beach. Green shell, big eyes, slow. Collection form. Inland it loses to ants that finished food and to everything larger. Tick Index, leave the sand.
Purple rat
Desert mid. Promo art shows it sitting up between shrew and scorpion. Bridge form. Do not main. Spend Gold on a later skin, not this one.
Green mantis
Lawn and forest hunter. Red inner claws. The thumbnail villain. Apex-adjacent. Excellent at deleting worms and ants. Weaker in wide desert against scorpions that see it first. Revive-worthy.
Stag beetle
Black body, yellow wing case. Grassland late-mid. Mandibles, armor read, slower turn. First form that justifies a Revive. Listed A on best forms.
Desert scorpion
Tan claws, dark back, oasis and canyon. End of the shrew line. S-tier width control. Main candidate. Learn tail space before you parade the worm spawn.
Mystery scorpion
Glowing silhouette, question mark, sparkles. Late or hidden. Hunt for Evolvedex, not for a kit you have not seen. When it is a real body in your Index, it will move onto the tier list with a kit paragraph.
Centipedes
Several palettes: brown-red, bright red, black-red with lamp eyes. Hour 24 mascots. Apex. Open ground rulers. Camera skill required. If you cannot keep the whole body on screen, you will ram trees and donate the form.
How to use the roster live
When you spot a silhouette, match it here before you chase. Wrong identification is how ants sprint at centipedes. When Index shows a grey portrait, match it to a biome and walk there instead of spinning the shop wheel.
New forms after patches will be appended, not inserted as fake prehistoric dinosaurs. Check updates if your Index suddenly has extra grey slots.

Naming notes
We use the English common names from the stills, not invented species Latin. “Stag beetle” is the yellow-backed beetle. “Shrew” covers the tiny desert opener even if some players say mouse. If Index prints a different label on your account, trust Index and tell Discord. We will rename the row.
Do not merge palettes. A black-red glowing centipede is not the same screenshot as a brown-red one. For combat they are both apex. For collection they may be separate portraits. Tick both if Index shows both.
Skins can make an ant look golden. That ant is still the brown-ant row. Buy looks after the body exists, using gold and shop.
If a friend swears they saw a flying form, ask for a screenshot with the version chip visible. v2.2 media does not show flyers. Until it does, this roster stays grounded.

What forms start the game?

Is the mantis a starter?
No. It is a hunter you meet early as an enemy. You collect it later.
How many centipede types are there?
Official stills show at least three palettes. Treat them all as apex threats.
Does the mystery scorpion have a name?
Not in public UI copy we can verify. Index will name it when you unlock the silhouette.
